MicroSys migration support for discontinued PowerQUICC® III processors
Our miriac® System-on-Modules (SoMs) with NXP® PowerQUICC® III processors have been available since 2007. Thanks to our longevity support of at least 15 years, we have been able to deliver these modules without any major design changes or other restrictions until today. But now, NXP® has officially discontinued this processor.
Long-term availability beyond discontinued processors
However, there are still stocks of the PowerQUICC® III processors MPX8540 and MPX8548 – initially manufactured by Freescale and then by NXP® until the end of 2021 – which enables us to supply batches of these modules even after the official discontinuation by NXP®. So, for the next few years, there’s no need for you to worry. Though, be sure to talk to us now about your project durations. Only then can we guarantee our continued support for you. We will work with you to develop a project plan and, if necessary, also a strategy for long-term stockpiling. We will also advise whether a migration to our NXP® QorIQ® PowerPC processor based modules such as the miriac® MPX-T1042 SoM or the miriac® MPX-T1024 SoM makes sense, or whether an alternative solution should be considered.
