RPM
Rugged Intel® Pentium® M Processor- Based VME Single Board Computer RPM, the first generation of rugged 6U, single slot VME single board computer (SBC) that integrates the Intel® Pentium® M (Dothan) processor with VITA 31.1 Compliance.
The RPM takes advantage of the Pentium M's low power consumption as a rugged Single Board Computer (SBC) in either the Ultra Low Voltage 1.0 GHz, 5 W version or the Low Voltage at 1.3 GHz, 10 W version starting with 256 MB DDR-266 RAM.
It is optionally available as an IEEE 1101.2 compliant conduction-cooled VMEbus module with wedge locks and a full-board heat sink for high shock/vibration environments and temperature extremes.
The 855GME and 6300ESB chipset supports PCI-X expansion, integrated VGA, DVO, USB 2.0, ATA/100, and Serial ATA. A VGA/DVI connector, two USB ports, a 10/100BaseTX interface, and a COM port are all accessible from the front panel. On-board CompactFlash permits single-slot booting.
Two Vita 31.1 compliant Gigabit Ethernet ports are routed to VME64x backplanes. Optionally, the RPM offers board configurations without a Tundra Universe IID VMEbus interface.
Conventional PC I/O is accessible with industry standard connectors on optional rear I/O modules as well as Serial ATA, VGA/DVI Video, GB Ethernet, and two more USB 2.0 ports. One PMCX extension site is provided for high bandwidth I/O applications with Front and Rear Panel Connection.
The RPM is also available as a non-rugged version with 1.6 GHz Pentium M processor called DPM. Operating system support includes Windows XP®, QNX®, Linux®, and VxWorks®.
MicroSys Electronics GmbH's RPM and DPM will be available in Q4/2004.
Features
- Processor
Pentium M Processor 2 MB of L2 Advanced Transfer Cache available in either the Ultra Low Voltage 1.0 GHz, 5 W version or the Low Voltage at 1.3 GHz, 10 W version.
- 855GME and 6300ESB Chipset400 MHz System Bus.
Ultra ATA 100/66/33 IDE protocol, PCI-X expansion offers 64 bits @ 66 MHz data transfer capability, Integrated Graphics, Chipset includes DRAM controller, USB 2.0 interface, two Serial ATA/150 ports, RTC, NV-RAM, standard PC timers, Ultra DMA, and interrupt logic.
- Single-slot
Single-slot VMEbus operation with an on-board CompactFlash disk for bootable mass storage.
- DRAM
DDR-266 support with a memory bandwidth of 2.1 GB/s, Stuffing options for 256MByte, 512MByte or 1GByte.
- VMEbus
Tundra Universe IID PCI-VMEbus interface provides 64-bit VMEbus transfer rates over 30 MB/sec, Full range of software drivers is available for different operating systems. Full Slot 1 (system controller) functions provided. Lower cost versions available without VMEbus.
- PMC Expansion
One PMCX site with 64 bit @ 66 MHz bandwidth is available on-board. I/O is routed through the P2 connector (on the outer rows, D and Z) as well as through the front panel.
- Ethernet
An Intel 82546 Ethernet controller supports two 10/100/1000BaseTX Ethernet ports routed to the P0 connector in compliance with Vita 31.1 for backplane fabric switching or for alternate routing to an optional rear I/O card. An 82559 provides one 10/100BaseTX port that is accessible from the front panel.
- Graphics
6300ESB I/O Controller Hub provides an integrated 32-bit 3D core at 133 MHz. SVGA and one 12-bit DVI is accessible at the front panel via a high-density DVI-I connector. SVGA and 12-bit DVI interfaces are routed through P0 when no front panel I/O is installed.
- IDE
Primary ATA/100 DMA IDE interface is accessible from the VMEbus P2 connector. PIO and bus master support. Secondary IDE port is routed to a Type II compatible CompactFlash connector for on-board booting.
- BIOS
General Software's flash-based system BIOS with a variety of boot options including CD-ROM and PXE over Ethernet. Customized versions can be provided.
- Watchdog
Programmable watchdog timer for system recovery.
- Front Panel I/O
VGA/DVI, Dual USB, 10/100BaseTX port, and COM1
- IDE and PMC I/O (routed through P2)
LPC interface runs through P2 so the rear plug-in module can produce standard PC I/O like COM1/2 ports, Floppy Disk Controller, Mouse/Keyboard interface, and LPT1 through an LPC compatible Super I/O device. Optionally COM2 and two distinct USB 2.0 ports may be routed through P2 instead of the LPC interface for applications that cannot use a rear plug-in card. Two Serial ATA ports, two 10/100/1000BaseTX ports, and a VGA/DVI port (routed through P0).
- Rugged Versions Available (RPM)
Wedge locks and conduction cooled in compliance with IEEE 1101.2. Expanded temperature range and high shock and vibration operating characteristics.
- Power Requirements
